Over the last few months I have again been working with Year 12 students from Grove school, in Market Drayton, on their Young Enterprise initiative. I’m always excited to see how they will meet the challenges of starting up, what is in essence, a limited company; create a product and bring it to market, with hopefully a profit in about 8 months!!

Many schools use this scheme as part of their curriculum. Grove don’t have that luxury because they offer the opportunity to take part to any Year 12, not just the Business Studies students.

This year has seen many ups and downs over the past few months to get the 2 Grove teams to the trade fairs over the last few weeks. We have had product issues, staffing issues, change of officers, finance challenges to name a few examples. It never ceases to amaze me how it all comes together in the end!

Watch this space to hear how they get on at the presentations and award evening!!
