Remember When…

Having written a blog post yesterday about memory it was very apt today to go to a fabulous Tea Room named Remember When! We had chosen to go to our nearest beach in New Brighton on the Wirral. The day started off with gorgeous sunshine but as we got closer to New Brighton it got colder and windy! Typical! Having walked along the beach we stopped off at Cafe Cream for dairy free ice cream! It’s always a must when we visit here and I LOVE that they offer so many flavours that I can eat…today it was coconut and chocolate…gorgeous!

After another walk along the beach…had to have my feet in the very wet sand… we stopped in at Remember When. The Tea Room is tucked up a side street on the way to the driftwood pirate ship…yes you read that right!! Lesley at Remember When had booked us in for 2pm and had an amazing afternoon tea ready for us. I’m not that easy to cater for being dairy and gluten free but she had done a wonderful job. We started with a bottomless pot of loose leaf tea and then the cake stands of food arrived!! Sandwiches, with our choice of filling, scones and cakes. It’s the small things that make it special, such as having dairy free butter for my sandwiches and scone, then a similar cake selection to everyone else but ALL dairy and gluten free. I felt very special with the most HUGE meringue though..much to the envy of the others!!

As you can tell the Tea Room is one of our ‘must visit’ venues and I highly recommend a visit! The memorabilia from the 40’s through to the 60’s captures your attention and I’ll take a picture of the ‘Life Begins at 40D’ poster for you next time! Having food intolerances and allergies makes eating out difficult at times, but Lesley shows that it shouldn’t be hard to cater for! Thank you.
